i been looking for one also, got a load of soil to spread thats full of bricks etc, made a make shift manual one that takes the big stuff out but after a better one. thought about screener buckets but the quote i got for our 13 tonner was £15k ouch.
i made one similar to this out of a sheet of rebar mesh then welded some extra rebars on

there also this smaller unit

might be worth asking if they know of any hire companies who have bought one.
but the ones to look out for are the small viper screens
like this one:

these boys have a viper to hire but not very close in crowborough

Had an phone call today from one of the many inquiries I put out saying they didn't do it, but gave the name of company who did. phoned them they have a machine that fits through the 2M access I have and said they could provide screener, 360 and operator it would take a week to do the 200m2, at a cost of £1200 quid, bit more than I was thinking of spending, but I didn't think it was going to take a week to do. Still on the hunt, just didn't get a warm feeling from them.

i've just done a 60mx20m cut and fill +/- 2m in rocky ground in a week, works out at about 2000 tons of rock shifted and relayed with our 8 ton machine and 6 ton dumper on my own as labourer as been ill. shouldn't take them a week to screen 200m2 pah.

after discussions with several people who can provide this sort of kit, including Simon at central, I have decide to give the supa screener a whirl, as found by Giles on ebay (see [url=http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Supa-Screen-Scree ... mdZViewIte
mQQptZUK_BOI_Industrial_Tools_Construction_Tools_ET?hash=item320356162832&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2|65%3A7|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50]here[/url])
Having had a discussion with the manufacture they have sold several to a national hire company who have a branch locally, therefore with little or no delivery charge and the suggested hire rate for week of £150, I can try it and see if it works.
It will be a while before I end up doing the job I shall post photo's if I can persuade the official photographer (read wife) to show some interest in the process.
In trying to price up doing it I have spoken several "mini digger and driver comapnies", beyond the stand work that needs doing dig over, soakaway and grading to level. I have obviously got to discuss the idea of doing the screening, for this my idea was to go onto a day rate and see how it goes. One bloke turned his nose up at this and suggested removing the entire topsoil and disposing and buying in new, thinking it would easier, cheaper and I would get a better product at the end!! needless to say he won't be get the job.
take care, Mike

riddles are ok for loose material or demolition waste but if its wet or your digging it out with grass weeds etc you'll do more damage to your machine constantly shaking your bucket to get it to screen the stuff, better off with the proper kit.

I did think about your suggestion Ambient. However, none of the man and machine guys I contacted said they had or offered a riddler bucket. Plus once I have finished getting the big bits (+50mm) out I can reduce the screen to 12mm and get a nice fine soil ready to for my bowling green turf!! I noticed by chance that the machine is being advertised in this months professional builders monthly

up here the rolawn stuff is £60 a bulk bag in travis!!!, i can buy screened soil collected in 15 ton loads for £25/ton from local turf supplier, yeah you can get cheaper stuff thats been through maybe a 60mm screen to get any full bricks out or "as dug" for £9/ton but you'd be putting more crap back in than you'd get rid off.
