Hi there.

I am extending a block paving drive. The drainage levels between the existing and the new parts are such that there is a slight dip where they both meet.

I would like to get rid of this dip by levelling it with bedding sand. But in doing so, it would make the thickness of the bedding sand layer uneven, with the normal thickness being about 50mm but where the dip is filled in it would be about 90 to 100mm thick. Would this be ok?

Ps. I'm using 60mm thick paving blocks.

100 mm is too deep, can't you use 50mm of type one to bring the level up?

Yeah I should do shouldn't I?

Since I'm new to this I thought that it would save effort but more importantly time, it it didn't really matter.

But many thanks for your prompt reply which confirmed what I guess I already suspected that I should build it up with some more Type 1.

Thanks again!
