Can anyone recommend a training/test company in the north west?

Also how much should it cost for the training and to do the test?

There's one in Leigh - DB Training I think it is. I go past their place a couple of times each week. When I'm on me way to the doctor's tomorrow, I'll jot down the number.

Leigh? The town that time forgot? It's halfway between Wiggin and Warringtun, about 5 miles down the East Lancs from Haydock Island on the M6. 30 mins from Preston when the traffic's not too bad.

And it seems to be B&E Training, not D&B - http://northcountytrailertraining.co.uk/about.html

my local one

http://www.stockporthgv.co.uk/hgvhome.htm

£429 for 2 days training and test.

test itself is £80 but you need a box trailer as well, not a plant trailer

spec for vehicle is:

Category B + E
Car and trailer test vehicles must be:
fitted with externally mounted, nearside and offside mirrors for use by the examiner or any person supervising the test
an unladen category B vehicle towing a suitably braked, unladen trailer of at least one tonne MAM. The examiner may ask for evidence of the trailer MAM eg the manufacturer's plate
All vehicle combinations must operate on appropriate brakes and utilise a coupling arrangement suitable for the weight.
The cargo compartment of the trailer must consist of a closed box body which is at least as wide and as high as the towing vehicle; the view to the rear should only be possible by use of the external rear-view mirrors of the towing vehicle.

So you can only use the mirrors for reversing with the trailer on the test? Useless at reversing with mirrors, could reverse trailers all day long looking backards
