Hi fellas

The front of my house is currently made up of a paving slab path (broken due to someone having spot-bedded the slabs - sacriledge, I know ;-)) on a solid concrete path base to the front door and leading round the back and side, if you pardon the expression, thus framing 2 square areas filled with gravel. I plan to block pave these 2 areas (handy as all 4 edges are already rigid - concrete path base on 3 sides plus footpath on other!), but where it all will meet the footpath, I'm unsure about what edging system to use, as the height of the slabs + mortar will dictate the blocks's height. The path's concrete base is at the same level as the footpath, so I figure that the top of my blocks is going to have to be at least 55mm higher than the footpath to match the level of the slabs. So whatever edging I use would have a drop on the footpath side... How can I get around this? Can I haunch with cement on the footpath?

As you may have surmised, this will be my first (and maybe last???) block paving job, although I've laid slabs before. Any suggestions appreciated and if the above reads like gobbledegook, please ask for clarification.
Cheers

Hi, thanks for your reply. I've got a couple of pics of the 'eyesore' which I want to upload for clarification but not sure how to do it yet. Will keep trying...

Is it just me or is anyone else struggling to visualise the levels on this project? What has the height of the flags got to do with owt?
