Bbc rogue traders - Another pop at the paving industry

I found this posting on the Decorative Concrete forum - I quote:
"Anyone see last nights show.

The two presenters stood side by side each holding an hosepipe onto a small paved area.

One paved area was porous paving blocks and the other was non-porous paving.

The non-porus area was covered in about 50 mm of water.

One presenter shouts to the other "Your non-pourus paving is ILLEGAL and is forcing the rain water into our sewage system, where as my non-porus paving allows the water to drain into the ground"

Then that was it, switched to another article.
In my view that must have hurt our industry on top of the recession its all we need.

If anyone can supply me the footage on dvd I'll upload on here.

I did not see this myself, perhaps one of you did, but if it was as related then this is not exactly helpful in these troubled times.

I didn't see this programme, but I'm trying to find it on that i-player thingy.

It wouldn't be the first time Rogue Traders has given "entertainment" a higher priority than veracity.

what matt needs is, some one who is an actual expert telling him what is right,Messr McCormack perhaps?
the roofing guy on the programme seemed on the ball,but too many of their rent-a-experts are as incompetent and ill informed as the tradesmen they are trying to catch out

if you are going to make this type of show it has to be 100% spot on

i had a look at tree care info .co dot uk and they slated the tree "expert" his price of £450 for a 3 man team of tree surgeons was way to low and apparently the tree needed nothing doing except removal of ivy
also these guys said would the beeb have been liable if one of those lads had died in this sting operation?

I have actually made a complaint to the BBC about Monday night's show as I feel that it was misleading and gave incomplete or incorrect info regarding the new legislation. I now feel that when I am expaining to cutomers that:
A-they can use non-porous block paving if it is drained to a bed, lawn or soakaway and
B-it is perfectly acceptable to connect to the existing rainwater drainage if it is at the side or rear of the house
If they have seen that episode of Rogue Traders they will think I'm dodgy!
I am normally of the opinion that you can exercise free will in what you watch and so if you do not like it...then switch off! However, in this case I think their incomplete and innacurate info about permeable paving will cause problems for contractors WHO ARE abiding by the (daft!) regulations.
