I have a friend Annette (always known as Nett or Nettie) and she is married to a guy called Paul Curtin.
She swears it wasn't deliberate...

Our trade has the bog standard (no pun intended) play on word names such as " The Rod Father" and there are several "Drain Surgeons" out there.

I liked the septic tank emptying company with the logo "yesterdays meals on wheels"

Another ya-hoooge dollop of cheesiness comes when I write a comment piece or short article for a magazine or other publication. 9 times out of 10, the sub-editor thinks it would be really, really, stupendously witty to head the piece "Paving The Way".

Because no-one else would ever have thought of that, would they?

So: Two minutes after posting the above, I make a brew and while waiting for the kettle to boil, decide to flick through the copy of Landscape and Amenity that was delivered this morning.

Page 6, the first page devoted to hard-landscaping, and we get.....

...how flamin' original!!

Last week we had a company round trying to sell website/advertising and they had made up some ready made artwork for us.

The usual bobbins = a crystal clear water fall, a leaping dolphin and of course you have to have the buzz word "environmental" on the page.

We shift sH&t for christ sakes.

Just you bloody wait, LLL!

Funny how the Australian idea of romance involves stringing you up on a koolabah tree. Thank god Mrs Taz doesn't know about this!

And yes, Joe, the Google ads are new and experimental. The only way to find out whether they piss off people and whether they earn their keep is to try them out. I tried some text-only ads on a handful of pages on the main site last month, and they've not attracted any adverse criticism, so I thought I'd try text+image ads in the Brew Cabin and see how they fare.
