so its time of year to renew insurance on my navara. last 4 years been with norwhich union and been paying £660 or about that. got the new details today and they want £850 nothings has changed got 7 years no claims.

so rang them up and they gave this spiel about current economic condition and inflation meaning that all prices are up 18-20% repairs claims etc. i said inflation is like 1% or even heading for deflation soon, but then he was like you haven't noticed when your bread and milk go up etc cheeky git more like the cost of changing the name is being passed on.

so any recommendations for a good commercial insurer.

giles?

I run Ford Ranger, cheapest I've found in past has been commercial vehicle direct (brokers I think) www.cvd-insurance.co.uk although mines due for renewal next month so no doubt they'll try and put the price up. One thing I will say for them is that when tractor loading top soil onto pick up dropped its bucket on the pick up they were pretty good at sorting claim out and making sure i had another vehicle to keep me on road.

NFU is my choice too no other company gets close to them. There fleet insurance starts at 3 vehicles but one of them can be a private motor and the other a tractor etc. I get instant 20%with fleet insurance. Cut out the middle man and go direct there's no way insurance is rising if anything it's getting more competative. £660 isn't a bad price for someone of your age driving a vehicle like that. I pay about £1400 for a passat and 2 Iveco Daily vans with rear seat conversions fully comp. The policy lets me drive anyone's vehicle and anyone drive mine even under 25's.

know where you are on this one giles! just renewed my ford ranger with norwich union thru commercial vehicle direct, as though the price increased for no reason, no-one else could touch their price. seems strange though, pickup insurance gone up about £120, but 7.5 tonne insurance come down about £150. work that one out......

will try nfu they do our farm insurance for barns and yard, i'm 27 at the end of this month i was hoping it would start to go down soon. i thought at 21 it would drop, then 25 but nope they have you over a barrel and just keep taking. never claimed in 10 years of motoring but was on dads fleet for first few years might see what eh cost of tagging it back onto the fleet would be.

Just had all the paper work in from NFU today. We have been with them for years both for the vans and my car.The car is about the same as last year at £456 .I have been on the directline site from the same cover the car will be £292. Another site gave me quotes from £200 -£500 ish.

I have edited this post the insurance had not gone up as much as I thought. They had an error on the first page making it look like they wanted £794 on reading the rest of the pack it's only £456

for my van I use gladiator an online broker they were the cheapest for me by far.
For my discovery I use Adrian flux and quoted Landrover owner international and they were the best by far and didnt mind the suspension has been uprated a lot of others wouldnt touch it because of that.

I also moved to Adrian Flux last year after a lot of ringing round - saved me over 150 quid.
