i'll be there the first day too. though with the current climate, will many manfacturers?
I used to go with some colleagues, but they don't want to look at the same things, and want to get off as soon as they can "to the pub"
Now i go on my own, and have a lesurely stroll round at least twice

i was sceptical at first, but have never looked back since i first went.
The good thing is it's free, and now the car parking is too.
As above, loads to see, and you do need a good day to see everything, and speak to some manufacturers.

The link to register online....HERE
Did we say first day? At a HSE thing on Wednesday I was speaking to the guy largely responsible for the machine-lay demo that has become an annual event at SED. It probably won't happen this year, apparently, or it will be summat of a much reduced format.

Interesting.
I know that, after SED 2008 when business droped like a stone for a lot of plant manufacturers immediately after the show in June, a few people - ourselves included - were questioning the outlay. The cost for even a modest stand, all-in, including transport, wages, hotel bills, is huge and the ordesr can't really justify it for most. I'm sure I had an ecast from the SED team stating that the average value of orders placed was £50k - the profit from which wouldn't even pay for the plot and the hospitality unit for a lot of exhibitors!
Added to this is the fact that many big manufacturers, such as Terex for example, have stated that due to the crunch, they will not undertake any exhibitions at all this year. We've all heard the horror stories of redundancies are short time working for all of the big players, and I guess smaller players are not immune, so the rumours you hear may not be far off...
