Hi there,

Have been looking in to buying a crusher, just a bit confused as certain companies can arrive at such prices, the machine in question is a bavtrak 009 contractor. questions are as follows.

1. what is the difference between the BAVTRAK 009 and the BAVTRAK 009 contractor?

2. Have been quoted for a bav 009 contractor £22500 inc vat, whilst from cautrak the same machine (nearly) but with petrol engine, slightly different design on the control end, and no conveyer for around £8000.00 hows that?

3. can a conveyor be retrofitted to bav 009? ie: buy a second hand 009 and fit a conveyor?

And also just general advice on what i should/shouldnt be doing/buying cheers.

i own a TCP micro crusher ,
as far the bavtrack goes im 99% shure a conveyor can't be fitted as the material drops out of the bottom between the tracks
the cawtrac one is not a BAV, petrol engine is a waste off time to expensive to run, can't compare to a diesel
the TCP micro is renowned as one off the best availble, bit more expensive than a bav, but better bigger material can be put in hopper, adjustable crush jaws from 20-70mm removable conveyor kubota engine
im shure digdugdan we be along soon he has them as well :D

thanks DDD

spoke to a guy today from cautrak an he said that they first started the production of the bavtraks but then set up a sister company to deal with the bavtrak side of business, and now the two companies operate under seperate ownership. He said that his machine (cautrak but still has bavtrak badge onit ) is the original hence the petrol engine different controls ( yellow box on the front )etc???

Also with the machine with no conveyor you must have to keep the machine moving to avoid the underside clogging up??

Not used to these small machines lol used to work for Lancashire crushing who had 90t crushers mega things they are :p

as it works by droping outa the bottom crusher will need to be moved along , which to my mind will be hard work spreading the crush all over,
iv had mine 5 monthes now not done alot with it but its save a lot off money in sub base cost and haulage of material, even putting the block offcuts in a night time take a few mins but it all builds up
the bav is a very small machine i can't see much hire return from it :D

i have used DDD's a few times and its very user friendly, you can get big lumps of crete and blocks in,we had to hire a red rhino for 1 job and the hopper was a lot smaller and slower.
as a hirer i would go with tcp for user friendliness

you cant compare a tcp micro to a bav 009, TCP is bigger with kubota engine, material size to crush in a TCP is 400X400x150 about

so whats the difference between the bav and the tcp? size output etc?

Firstly the bav input is only 359 x 315mm.
TCP is 400 x 400

Tcp machine is around £17500+vat which is cheaper than the 009

TCP have some second hand machines available.

Have tested all the micro crushers and the TCP is the best to my mind.

Better engine, easy to remove the conveyor, larger input, 5 output sizes instead of just 3. Fantastic dealer service and backup. 5 depots nationwide for spares etc.

i wouldn't bother with the petrol 009 model, and forget having one without a conveyor. a waste of time. In the four or so years i have had mine, i have only had two hirers use it without the conveyor, one was windrowing the material, the other was crushing concrete posts.

Also, because the tcp machine has an open hopper, you can place long concrete fence posts in it, and it will slowly munch its way through. You cant do that with the bavtrak as you have to slide the door over the hopper to close it, before the jaw will crush.
I think cautrac are desperate to dump the old petrol models , hence why it is so cheap.

I can give you a number of a great guy at TCP who can demo for you and let you know of the deals on some re-conditioned machines.

As LLL says, Red rhino is not as good as either of the above!

DNgroundworks, just to clarify a few points with the BAVTRAK 009 and clear up some misconceptions:

Feed hopper: the machine can be specificed with either the sliding safety cover or an open hopper. Both are the same price and, crucially, both comply with the latest BS EN ISO 13857:2008 safety legislation. All machines should comply - otherwise the owner can be liable for injury sustained by the end user - but we believe ours best covers recommendations.

Conveyor: whilst a lot of our customers successfully use models of BAVTRAK 'without' a conveyor (especially those who specialise in very tight access jobs) we've added the 009 contractor which has a conveyor as standard. Unfortunately, you cannot retro-fit this conveyor to all previous models of 'micro'.

Transport: we move the 009 Contractor on the same 7.5 tonne beaver-tail we use for the bigger 025, but it's equally suitable for most plant trailers.

Engines: The 009 and 009 Contractor are available with a choise of either a 13hp Honda petrol or (most popular) a 10.5hp Hatz diesel.

Do ensure you see demos of all the alternatives first and think long and hard before buying. It goes without saying that the economy is not presently booming and whatever you buy you may be stuck with for a good while. Whichever machine you eventually choose I sincerely wish you the very best of luck with the new venture.

For clarity and honesty, I feel bound to openly declare that I am a director and one of the owners of BAV Crushers Limited. I generally prefer to 'lurk' in the background of the forum and only intercede to correct any errors on our behalf.

Perhaps, if only to satisfy my own curiosity if not that of others, it would be relevant for DDD to declare his interests as regards TCP. ???
