Hi
Do I need a Paviors Mall (and save around £30) to lay my patio or can I get away with a block of softwood (say 4" x 2") and a club hammer Patio Comprises Indian Sandstone with various sizes up to 900mm x 600mm. (Some look a bit thin I have to say)
Also should I wait for frost free nights before laying or alternatively what precautions should I take in this cold snap
Many thanks
Mike

Thanks for that. That £30 will come in nicely for something else.
Yes there seems to be a split of opinion in this website on whether to lay on full mortar or a dry/moist mix. Can I take it that in particular for IS the full mortar is preferred because of the riven nature of the surface (ie to avoid voids) and is this generally the view from the other posters who frequent here
Thanks
Mike

There's some confusion here: you have a FULL BED of MOIST MIX. It's not either/or.
The alternative to a full bed would be spot bedding, which is a criminal offence punishable by compulsory removal of testicles using a block splitter. The alternatives to moist mix would be semi-dry or wet, if we were using mortar, or sand, if laying on an unbound bed (not recommended for this type of paving)
