Hi all,
I'll be doing a little job for my father-in-law in Leverstock Green, Hemel, next week. He wants to extend an existing patio laid with Marshall's Saxon 450x450's (to my eye, anyway).
TP usually give me good prices but they're quoting 2.99+VAT = £17.20/m which strikes me as pricey for 'biscuit' slabs.
Does anyone know any bm's in the area who might be a little more generous for the 100 I need?
Also need a skip co - been told about Bishop's so far.
Any advice gratefullly received.
Rich.

The saxons aren't Biscuits they're a fairly decent flag. I don't know about your local circumstances but I doubt you could get a saving on these of any more than £20-£30 on a good day. As for the in laws I get shivers when any of them corner me about a wee job they need doing I'm usually end up not even breaking even at the end of it. Does the marshalls website not have a list of stockists even if you get a price from someone further away you could start bouncing them around and see what they can knock off. Good luck i'm not looking froward to all these family get togethers coming up thats when I get collared and I'm to big to hide in the corner.
Can't see it from my house

being from hemel, i could not be more experianced in this department!
firstly, if you want a 6yd, then phone my mate Roger stokley. He's a one man band , been around for years. His service is great. Pm me for his number
Bishops have a habit of leaving skips when they are ready for days on end. And i have always found them quite rude to be honest.
There are not many marshalls dealers left now round here. too many better alternatives.
try EH Smiths, bovingdon 01442 833888
0r Jewsons in Harpenden 01582 761241
you should get a good deal at the moment on them.
Need any crushed??!

Thanks for all the replies and advice, guys. I'm very nervous about it, the father-in-law and I get on very well but he's been known to be a bit of a nightmare when it comes to trades.
Pablo, I didn't mean to suggest that Marshall's made anything other than a good slab, but 35mm thick slabs from anyone are biscuits to me!!
DDD would you kindly pm me your mate's info for the skip? Don't need any crushed on this one, thanks!
LLL thanks for all the suggestions; I'll follow them up.
Cheers.

This paver still thinks that anything under 40mm is a biscuit!
Thanks SD for the Wickes heads-up. I'll have a look at them. It's quite possible that that's where the existing slabs came from. I haven't done a patio with all identical 450's for ages now, so it'll make a change even if it's a bit of a boring finish.
I'll only have about 5t of muck all told and I need to keep the site as tidy as possible so a skip's better than the grabs.
I appreciate all the help, lads. I'll keep you posted.
