I am interested in your views on polymeric sand for jointing between slate slabs.
We have recently had a slate patio laid, and our landscaper is very keen to use what I assume is the polymeric sand mentioned on your site. He used it at his last job, where he just brushed the stuff in and it hardened within about 20 minutes. This obviously saves masses of labour time, and therefore probably pays for itself.
You mention Romex and GftK in your info pages. Which you would recommend for slate? We have used Stoneflairs Natural Slate, which looks beautiful and was reasonably easy to lay due to the uniform thickness of each slab. The area covered is about 70m2.
My landscaper is talking of using Cementone. Is this any good?
There's nothing to choose between GftK and Romex at this scale of use. When you get to the very heavy commercial applications with lots of vehicular traffic, then it is possible to start picking and choosing, but for a residential patio, the only thing you need consider is price and availability.
Cementone WJC is not in the same league. It's OK-ish for patios but the chemistry behind it is different to that used with the other products you mention.
just done 150m2 with rompox like ambient said brilliant stuff, builders merchant tried to push the cementone onto me but as tony said not even in the same sport as rompox never mind ball park
