I had my driveway done last week and before I sign it off I wonder if someone could advise if my concern is valid.
I am not happy about the edging between the driveway and the pavement. One side they have the same height but the other side of the driveway there is 3cm(1inch)from the driveway to the pavement (as a small step). I had a look at a few driveways in my street but none of them have this kind of step, so I am concerned. Am i right to be concerned? if so can it be fixed?

I have two pics but I cannot get in the valid formar, I can email if you like.

I look forward to hearing from you

rgds,
Denise

Sometimes it's unavoidable. If there is such a step, then we could cut the footpath back, form a joint and relay the small area concerned.

As has been said, a photo would be handy.

Hi,
I have used the FAQ but every time I try to post I get the message: You are not allowed to use that image extension on this board. A valid format is: http://www.domain.com/picture.gif, an invalid format is: http://www.domain.com/picture.one.gif

I have tried uploading photos on myspace, hotmail, google, but none works.
Please can someone tell me where I can load the photo on the net so I can add the link to this site?

Thanks

the existing paving is a bit wonky so it looks unavoidable
looks a fair job there,if they had followed the exact contour of the pavement it would look pants
sadly contractors are NOT allowed to touch the street side of the pavements now,or they could have straightened it up,only the local authority can do that ( at a cost of course)

looks good from here :)

ps i take it the driveway was started before the new regulations regarding surface water came in on the 1st of october???

Looks good to me. Concur with the view that if they'd followed the wonky pavement it would have been awful. It looks properly edged, nice kerbs, etc.

LLL what if it was already hardstanding to the same area?

your not listening, they cannot touch the pavement side of that edging, its illegal
ring the council and ask them to relay the flags on the footpath
good luck

Thats totally acceptable.
Would you rather have a flat drive or a wonky drive which goes with the contours of the poorly laid council pavement?

I wouldnt ring the council either if it was done last week.

..........and even if you did call Highways, I very mych doubt they would come round and relay the slabs.

Or they might turn up in perhaps 3 years time.....
