Hi thanks for the offer DDD but I am getting some quotes from local companies, Hemel is a fair way and I wouldnt want to waste your time driving up to quote.
Does anyone know the laws regarding dumping on the highways. I now have several tonnes of earth and slabs in a large pile on the road outside the house! Will my cowboy builder (who put it there) be liable of will I be liable?
Judging by the number of times he as asked me to pay for its removal I would guess he is a bit worried about it. Removing so much earth is the only part of the job he did properly so should I pay for its removal?
Had someone round to quote to finish the job today, he had a good laugh at the footings for the wall.
Thanks
Angela

you cant tip or store on public highway full stop,if the person does not move it the local highway inspector can and will get it moved and bill you.... sorry for being straight to the point in norfolk they are quite strict on it, hope you get it sorted if highways come to you give them the cowboys name.... :;):

thats the 64000 dollar question, depends if you get found our before any one spots it,or heaven forbid if a car runs into it,is it fenced off you will be liable for any accident,i would suggest you get it shifted a.s.a.p as long as you have not paid the cowboy any money you can take it off the job cost or get new contractor to do it quick :;):

I'm afraid it will always be your waste, you have a duty of care to ensure that waste materials from your property are disposed of correctly. It doesnt matter if you pay this cowboy ,if he then dumps it in a layby somewhere else, it is still your waste and if the authorities can trace it back to you , you will be billed and fined.
Personally I'd pay someone else to shift it, this guy is likely to want to recoup some of his losses and not pay for its final disposal.
