Going rate reclaimed yorkstone - Whats the current price per m2

my neighbor wants to buy a couple of the york stone flags we have collected over the years, just wondered whats the current price you'd pay for reclaimed ones or a fair price even?

last week i paid £65m2 for yorkstone bought 4 pieces 1m*.6m
used to make steps

thats good news, i've got about 20 pallets stacked up in one corner of the yard. and got another pallets worth yesterday off a job.

its all supply and demand giles ,if you need to buy them they will be £90 a M but if you are selling you get offered £30 per M
depends on condition etc but £45-65 is fair

If you know where to look, you can get top quality reclaimed yorkstone/gritstone flags, inch-and-half to two-and-a-half thick, no corners missing, all edges fettled, for 42 to 50 quid per metre, but if they suspect you're a civilian, they'll have you for 70 quid per yard. There's cheaper stuff out there, but some isn't actually yorkstone, some will be millstones, then there's the stuff that delaminates after years of being buried in the damp beneath Lancashire Marble (aka Lino), and the godawful 4"-6" thick ballbreakers.

Never, ever buy sight unseen. That's how the rogues on Ebay get rid of all their shite. And don't forget the VAT and the haulage.

i like the way it goes from M to yds when they smell some money

i stripped a roof of lovely welsh 20 10's, all about 5-7 mm thick beauties
anyway the reclamation man claimed they were Portuguese and offered me 20 p each,i had visited his yard earlier and seen the same welsh slates for 80 p each

FTR a lot of Portuguese slate has portugal stamped on it

i tell ya what though ,i love those yorkstones that have been worn down by 200years of hob nailed boots etc going over them,just why they didnt make them in 150 multiples is beyond me

There were a lot of gauged widths with yorkstone, but over the years, these have been trimmed and re-trimmed and re-re-trimmed to all sorts of weird sizes, but back in the era of peak production just over 100 years ago, 15", 18", 21", 24", 27" and 30" were the commonly used widths, and they'd be combined with either random lengths or 3" modular lengths as required by the customer (and as possible witrh that particular quarry).

On certain 'prestige' jobs, flags of 108" (9' or 2.75m) and more were often used, often in a course to emphasise the grandness of the project. When salvaged nowadays, there's a horrible tendency for dealers to cut these down to what are considered to be more manageable sizes, and often using a cut-off saw to completely ruin the character of the arisses.

up here you will only get £18 pound a metre from the dealers, i usually sell mine on e bay for about £35 a metre to southerners
