On £70 per metre I get about one in three of every block paving job I quote on.
As far as the new regs regarding soakaways etc. I checked out the Burnley and Pendle council website where they declare that basically it is ok to do an impermeable surface if it drains into a 'bed or lawn' area! As long as there is no run off onto the street. It doesn't make clear if you can or cannot connect to the existing drainage system though. A customer I saw last week told me (allthough I take this with the pinch of salt) that the council bloke who came round to discuss his drop kerp said they were not bothered about him paving his driveway and he didn't need PP, even though the water will flow onto the street, there are no lawn/bed areas etc. It was only 20metres but well above the 5metre threshold. I guess they aren't policing it properly then.

One in three is good.

And this new law i am sure will soon be forgotten about ( i hope anyway)

look at people who connect rainwater to the sewer, your not meant to do that and in my eyes is a big no no, but people still do it......
