All forms of block paving, brick paving, flexible or rigid, concrete or clays, new construction or renovation

please can someone settle a argument at what stage do you install geotex, some say before the type 1 or crushed concrete,others say on top of sub base then the laying sand,i always thought on top of sub base,then the geotex holds the laying sand in position, letting rain water drain through and stopping rutting of blocks

geotextile down first to prevent the subsoil/clay/strata below your mot from mixing with your sub base and weakening/contaminating it.

properly compacted type1 mot will not allow the sharp sand to move anywhere.

but in other non driveway situations

geotextile can be used to prevent contamination of a drainage bed of clean stone, lay your clean stone then geotextile on top then soil etc on top of that.

underneath the sub base,stops the subbase sinking into the subgrade (ie clay) when it gets wet
