Hi all.I am desperate for advice. As we all know its been raining virtually everyday for the past few month...give or take a day...because of the rain i have been putting off laying 75 600x600 flags down for our patio ...week after week.I took the old council flags up...and dug out around 6 tons of earth (4 skips) away to make the ground flat...(our garden sloped down)..it is now level...Question:Now the ground is simply a mud quagmire...can i put my subbase ie:sand/stone chipping straight on top of the mud???..or do i have to wait till it drys out??
I am on the verge of having the tonnage delivered as soon as possible if so...i am desperate to get this finished.Any help really appreciated
Laying flags..constant mud!!! - Laying subbase on mud??hi all..

Ok Tony..thanks...i get the idea. The clay isnt very far from the surface so solidity is there under the mud.
Last year we got 2 ton of golden gravel delivered for our front garden..(a 2 car space area)...we took a layer of turf of the top of lawn..layed proper underlay (to stop weeds)....and then whacker plated the golden gravel straight on top of the soil...it looked fantastic until it rained!!!....now it needs doing again...properly!!...with a subbase put down 1st....i guess you live n learn.
Thanks fer the advice...nice 1 Barry
