Rendered concrete water feature

Hello all, new start garden designer here with a quick question.

For one of my client's gardens, I have in mind a water feature made from a circle from bricks (maybe 60-70cm high) and rendered with concrete and painted white, with a pump fountain, but wasn't really sure of the construction.

Is it a case of a solid concrete waterproof base, building up brick courses to the required height, render with waterproof concrete, paint, pump, fill. Job done.

Or am I missing anything? (like a liner for example) Thanks for any help.

i'd be more tempted to just make a shutter out of ply and poor it all in concrete with waterproofer in it if you intend to render it afterwards, think you'd have problems getting a good waterproof seal where the bricks come off the base.

you dont say how wide. construction of above ground ponds need to be engineered to take the weight of the water.

Probably around an 80cm external diameter. The measurements are flexible to a degree, but it's meant to be more of a small pool than a typical pond.
