hi all, what would you pay per sq metre for a tarmac parking space.
sized 4m by 5m.

the site has good access

About £23/m2+VAT - thats a 50mm thick dense binder course with a 25mm SMA surface course.

first quote was for £3550, that included edging part of the space. and beaking up a parking space thats about 8 foot wide by 16 ft long.

then digging out an adjacent spot, sized 10 ft by 16 and then tarmacing both spots, so tarmacing a space 5metres by 5 metres.

getting some more quotes, but it may be back to plan A.

ie leave the current parking space and create another one in gravell.

i thought that 1600 would cover the work, but its looking like i was wrong.

anyone in burton upon trent derbyshire?

How many metres of edging?

hi, the existing space is edged on 4 sides. the plan was to remove of the long sides which is approx 16 ft long ( i am going to do this) then these will be laid along the edge of the new tarmac space. it would work out at no more than 24 feet of edging. we also have 2 drain access lids which he said he would replace with new light weight ones.
i said i would pay for the skip as i wanted to tidy up the rear garden.

Lightweight covers? Oh please don't use these horrible tinny ones, use a proper cast cover! You will thank yourself afterwards....

£3.5 k sounds like a liberty!
i would have thought £1.5k tops and that would be over the top
as long as they do it to to daves spec it will be fine,but get 3 more quotes

I'd come in at around £2100+VAT

That would include , breakup and cart concrete, reduce dig and install sub-base, 2 x 600*450 cast covers, flat top 150*50 PCC backedgers and an area of 40m2 in two coat tarmac work to a thickness of 75mm.

hi, the existing tarmac space that i need re doing in 2800mm * 5100 mm. this is edged on all 4 sides with what i believe are called bull nosed edgers.

then between that space and the house there is a grassed area, at its largest point that is 5700 wide * 5100 deep.
one side of this is curved and is edged in the same edgers as the parking space. this abuts a parking area / drive.

i was going to remove the edgers from one side of the parking space, and edge the back of the current grassed area.
so creating a space approx 8m * 5.7m.

i thought we could extend the current parking space to 5.7m from 5.1.

i would like to use the bull nose edgers that are there and i would remove them from there current position. so they could be relayed.
is 2k + vat a reasonable price if i pay for a skip and remove the current edgers?.

there are 2 inspection chambers, these are very heavy concrete, they measure - 800mm * 800mm + 650 * 800.

the current grassed area sloped dow towards the house, but there is a gravel stip on one side of the house with a drain, and also 2 down spouts that do into the ground from the guttering.

anyone is derbyshire willing to quote.

The edging strips won't come out cleanly - they'll be concrete haunched in both sides I expect. Even if they would come out easily, the cost-benefit is negligible/negative.

Don't forget that most contractors will just rip the whole lot - both sides - out at once with a digger. They won't fanny around trying to salvage cheap-as-chips concrete edging strips, so there's not much point in you trying either!

You'll be able to find a yard Derby/Nott/Mansfield/Sheff that'll do reclaims I expect for next to nothing if you want to shave a few quid.
