yes ,do a 3 year apprenticeship :;):
most DIYers find brick work to be beyond them,a lot of bricklayers find it hard too
it takes at least 6 months doing it every day to get to a minimum level of competence and 3 yrs plus to get good
building walls is very unforgiving, sorry to bear bad news but there are no tips i could give you that would help

you know what i mean sean, you can take paving or block paving up but once a brick is laid its laid, i have seen DIYers use profiles but the whole thing is a mess,i need to recharge my camera and take some photies round luton, there are some hideous walls that people have built themselves, ruined the whole house IMHO

I agree lll. but a small wall out the way for a DIYer while they are keen, will show them just how hard it is and why we ( you ) as tradesmen, get the big money. i personally would let anyone have a go, unless its electrics, or gas. P S got any knitting patterns :;):lutonlagerlout wrote:you know what i mean sean, you can take paving or block paving up but once a brick is laid its laid, i have seen DIYers use profiles but the whole thing is a mess,i need to recharge my camera and take some photies round luton, there are some hideous walls that people have built themselves, ruined the whole house IMHO

Dont want to scare you but I changed all the light switches and fixed my shower in my house !!
Addmittedly some are now upside down!!
Think you may be right though leave the walls to the proffesionals I do want it to be straight it might end up looking worse than it does already !
Sean I think you are right telling us women "you cant" is like a red rag to a bull " Who can't" !!!

That must be awkward an upside down shower, would get the ceiling wet  have a large family with lots of sisters, neices, aunts , grandaughters and ex partners ( women partners ) so learnt the hard way about saying "no you cant." one good thing when i gave up smoking, i told my wife " you could'nt do it as you have no willpower." 4 years later she still has'nt smoked. how many times have you guys said to your wife " we cant afford that."? Bet she managed it :laugh:ange jones wrote:Dont want to scare you but I changed all the light switches and fixed my shower in my house !!
