recently had tarmac driveway laid, but in bad rain it floods, due to a small "hump" across drive about two feet from garage door.only about half inch high but is causing problems.....rainwater runs down side of garage, hits the hump and is then forced back into my patio...flooding it.Any suggestions as to how I can out some kind of drainage gulleys in the tarmac without ruining all of it? Or would it be easier to just get a whacker and try to flatten the hump out?DESPERATE!!!

Get the contractor back to sort it, it's not acceptable.

Agreed! A competant contractor should be able to lay to the correct falls and avoid the surface holding any water. Obviously there are limits to what you can do with the falls available.

Forget trying to shape the tarmac, you'll not move it.

Ok thanks. How easy would it be to get Linear Drainage put in? Suppose drive would need re-laying?Could Linear be put in down edge of drive to give channel for water to follow & could tarmac be cut so as not to need total re-laying?brother in law laid it last year but works away & cannot get to me for a while, but with crappy weather recently, dont want to be sweeping flooded patio & garage after each downpour. We put a couple of small drains in patio hoping it would ease problem but after massive downpour this week,,,,well they obviously didnt work.

How big is the drive?

If it is smallish, best to rip it up and start over. Otherwise you'll be faced with a joint on your driveway, not pretty. Has he got a planer? You could then just chew off 35mm or so and relay the surface course after installing a nice run of aco drainage.
