Does anyone have, or know of a "how to" video or DVD on layng block paving? if not, then what are your thoughts on producing one for the less experienced of us out there? what about the pros offering beginners some hands on guidance, say one or two days tuition in return for free labour ? Your thoughts ?

There are some out there but they really are dire. In most of those I've seen, the instuction is plain WRONG in key matters, and some of them leave home-made porn looking like quality productions.
John Higgins, from Aintree Paving, and meself talked about making a DVD a couple of years ago, but we've both been so bloody busy since then that it's never happened.
My feeling is that, if it is to be done, it needs to be done properly, with a realistic budget, professional camera and sound, and top-notch production. I can't afford to fund it, but if someone out there with deep pockets is interested in sponsoring such a venture, I'd definitely be interested.

They're not. In one I bought for 'research purposes' I'm sure one of the schoolboys laying the paving is smoking a spliff.
I have a decent video camera now, and have just about taught myself how to use it properly, and to use the editing software. I made a not-bad 20 minute video of a gig I attended recently (for personal use only, so no copyright issues) and now I feel almost confident enough to film an actual installation. I have a couple of projects in mind for later this summer, so, as they say, watch this space.....
