Hi all,

We have had a patio laid this week through a guy that was recommended to me by the caretaker at my local community centre.

The patio itself is 10ft by 15ft of pendle buff slabs and in my opinion has not been laid correctly at all.

The landscaper, if i dare call him that has done no digging out nor laid any hardcore. He has literaly used some black fabric to stop the weeds coming through and the put the slabs down directly onto the turf and existing slabs with builders sand and cement. Now im no builder but im sure this won't last very long at all as it has no strength to hold it together?!

He has also laid them right up against the wall and i am sure it is not to building regs for the dpc. Before the patio there was just a path and even this had a small gully of pebbles for drainage.

I questioned all of this with him and he said it did not matter as the slabs are pourous and any water would soak up through them and the cracks in between them?!?!

He finished the job yesterday and my husband told me to pay him as we could not expect him to do a job and not give him anything..... yes i know, the fool! I keep looking at it today and im sure my 2 year old could have done better.

Am i right in thinking he has just done a quick bodge it job. We paid by cheque so i am thinking of cancelling it and writing to him explaining the reasons why we are with holding payment till it is rectified.

What do you think?

Any advice much appreciated!!!

Read the main website to see how the job should be done.
