Hi
hope you can help me here
i'm planning to install land drains in my garden to help remove excess surface water that gathers when it rains
there will be 8 x 40M long amd 1 x 20M straight line trenches and a depth of about 35cm, width 35cm
I reckon i need about 42 cubic meters of gravel - but as it's bought by the tonne, i've no idea
how many tonnes will i need to do the job?
ta
chris
Calculating gravel qty?? - How much gravel do i need to buy?

I usually try to get 5mtrs of cover to a tonne, it depends on how clean cut the trench is and the ground type you are working in.
You dont really need that much cover over the pipe if it is under soft landscaping and given that you have to cart away as much as you put in we try to stretcth the bedding out without comprimising the job
