hi all
first of all great site for info.
last year my folks had driveway paved with omega block paving and already some of the bricks are looking a tad worse for wear. i tend to replace some of the blocks and resand but they now want to put a sealant on.
have searched this forum site and all say a big no no to stuff from diy stores ie thompsons.
some say resiblock others say PavSeel or CoverGard.
question is which one do most use, give best results.

All down to personal choice really !
Resiblock is good but very expensive and is a bit overkill for domestic use.
My prefered sealer is a solvent based high solids acrylic, but you will need a high quality pump sprayer with viton seals (if you want to use it more than once) and will also need to thin it with a little xylene to go through the sprayer.
I have found the Pattern imprinted concrete (PIC) suppliers to be the best source for this type of sealer and you should expect to be paying around £100 +vat per 25ltr drum which should cover approx 80 - 100 sq/m.
You can get cheaper Acrylics but the solids tend to be less. Some suppliers also do modified versions that are designed to be used on block pavers like "Creative Impressions" SuperSeal Super Gloss Plus.

While some PIC distributors do supply sealants suitable for concrete block paving, some of the stuff used by PIC contractors has been developed for use on 'green' colour-topped concrete and is less than suitable for pressed and cured concrete blocks.
Horses for course: I'd only ever recommend a genuine concrete block sealant for concrete blocks pavers. It's easy to save a few quid, but if it all goes wrong, it's a bloody dear do to have a shitey sealant removed.
