Hi folks,
Quick question. Do I install a DPC in a double skinned free standing garden retaining wall ?
Reason I ask is will this not compromise the integrity of the wall a little by making it somewhat weaker ?
I.e. My understanding is, lay the DPC direct to the course of bricks. Add mortar to the DPC, lay next course ?
Is that correct ?
My thinking is the obvious way to do it would be apply mortar, then DPC then mortar again then bricks but then that leads me back to the question as to whether to apply DPC at all for the reasons above ?
A swift answer would be appreciated as I can't really find owt on the site which tells me 100% either way.
Thanks again guys n gals.

I disagree: a DPC should be used on retainer or free-standing walls. It *may* be omitted, but it's considered "best practice" to incorporate one.
