Hello all

Just joined this excellent form and this is my first posting.

I'm about to go ahead with a 46 m2 job and cannot decide upon paving. In the past I have had stoneflair Yorkvale slabs. With the benefit of experience I'm now casting my net more widely.

I've looked a sandstone by Jewson, Stoneflair, etc plus manufactured yorkstone by Marshalls and Bradstone (milldale sanden sand).

The background to this is that I live in a bradstone brick clad house (golden sand or similar I think) therefore matching it up would be a preference.

So far been quoted £2,100 for the job using Stoneflair yorkvale Autumn Gold.

I'm looking my any advice on:

(a) should I go for manufactured stone, if so which company?
(b) move up to sandstone (given it is only a small extra cost Stoneflair range for example) and where to get it from to complement my bradstone cladding.

I don't want to go completely mad in terms of £ per square metre, up to £25 is my limit.

Any thoughts appreciated.

No one can tell you which product is best for your project: it's a matter of personal taste. Personally, I'd side with LLL and probably use natural stone, but that's not to say that using a concrete alternative is not worth considering.

There are good and bad examples in both materials, but the manufacturers/suppliers you've mentioned are all reasonably reputable so you're unlikely to end up with crap, regardless of which material you choose. However, with a budget of just 25 quid, it will be easier to find a quality stone flag than it will a good quality, convincing wet-cast reproduction.

Ashington please let us know what you end up going for, what other types you considered and how much they all cost.
Thanks
