Pooled water on concrete patio.

Hi,

I have recently uplifted the stone chipping on an old victorian patio, with a view to possibly putting decking down.
I have found that when it rains a 1/2" pool of water forms near the drain before it starts to drain off in the nearby drain.

I am a bit of a novice with this but I was thinking of trying to level the dipped area with concrete, but was worried that I may displace the water to other areas that may cause it to be trapped as there is only this one drain on the patio, which the down pipes all also lead to.

Would anyone have any other suggestions or is this the best course of action. Any advice would be much appreciated.

it looks to me as though the concrete was badly levelled in the first place and the correct fall was not achieved.
Trying to level this out will work if you can get the fall to the drain. However, a thin skim of concrete may not work, and you may have to dig the area out and put either a thicker concrete area in, or you could move the drain to the centre of the puddled area

Thanks for that info. I'll try a skim of concrete as I don't fancy moving the drain, as all the downpipes lead into it below ground.

you could try and cut a linear channel in

You could hire a hand held concrete planer and reduce it slightly so the water runs into gully. :;):

Thanks for all the suggestions. It looks like I need to reduce the height gradually from the water to the drain.
I will try that and hopefully there will be enough drop available, or else I am still stuck.
