Pointing a paving circle - Any ideas?

Hi.. just laid a paving circle. I need to fill the gaps between the slabs. It has fettled edges (?terminology?) and the gaps are fairly large (although the slabs are biutetd together at the base). Just not sure what do I fill the gaps with? (colour is not an issue!). Assume that kiln dried sand would just wash away.
