Worth keeping hardcore? - To recycle or not?

Other groundworks tasks, such as roads and footpaths, terracing, fencing, foundations, walls and brickwork, tools and plant.

Hi there. I'm currently demolishing a concrete path and patio (read ugly slabs) and will be replacing them with a mixture of gravel/stones and paving slabs.
As the concrete is getting smashed up there's quite a variation in size and I'm wondering if it's worth recycling it to use as a hardcore base? If so, what size is the maximum size of the chunks that I can really use? Unfortunately if it's too much hassle then I think it's all gonna have to go in a skip.

Cheers!

40mm and down would be ideal 50mm ish could be acceptable. How much have you got a skips worth? more? There are small (fit through door way) crushers that can be hired for the roughly the same price as one builders skip. One of the Brew cabin irregulars (dig dug dan) rents one, although I don't know whether he covers you area?

if he doesnt i bet he knows a man who does, even the small ones are awesome,i reckon they turn a skip full of hardcore (£160+vat) into about 5 tonnes of type 1 (roughly £100 ) for about £150 cost
so you save £110 a skip just by using it,and its recycling
LLL :)
"what,you want paying today??"

Great, thanks for the replies. I reckon that I will easily have a skipfull by the end of it so a crusher would be a good option, mostly because of the cost but I suppose it looks good on the green credentials.
Next stop to check out the hire prices, from what I can see on google there aren't too many places which do them. (Colchester based).
