I was jet washing today a driveway at a garden i maintain, and they had this driveway laid three years back. I just thought the contractor would have opted for a cover as its in a noticable place. Anyhow how much would it cost to have a recessed tray cover fitted and infilled with block paviours or is it an easy job to tackle diy.
The levels of the driveway are all over the place. It is a long drive going back about 10m past where the picture is taken and it does hold water in a couple of places, however near the concreted edge aoround the cover it does rise up for some reason.
Also the angles at the corners of the drive arent mitred and look awfull just like butted up.
a can of worms liam rectifying other peoples work,i would hazard a guess at about £350 depending on many variables
but your new blocks will stick out like a sore thumb too,unless you put some kind different colour blocks in and make a diamond pattern or something to incorporate the old blocks and add say 80 new ones

Bloody awful. The reason it raises up at the cover is because they have used that as a guide for height , and any thing else regardless of how the blocks will fall.
not clever. poorly laid out and not edges properly.Costs to lift and change could be expensive imho tray should have been recessed, but then this may have been a cost saving exercise by the client at the time? you only get what you pay for..

its easy to criticise other peoples work from a keyboard but we do not know what pressure the contractor was under at the time,i wouldnt have done this but i have had a lot of people ask me can they save a couple of hundred quid and leave a manhole like this in the drive
there may be a biscuit under there for all we know

Cant make excuses for a piss poor job lads. cost by client, or not, i dont think any of you would of left a job in that state. Would you? judging by the levels, i bet that never felt a wacker plate over it at any stage. Edges are shite and the infill around the manhole is an abortion. ???
its a crap job ,for sure .but years ago i worked for a bloke who always left manholes in block paving
his wages were important to me ,so i did as i was asked
its not ideal, but it was hobson's choice at the time
