Delivery damage to council footpath

A truck delivering to our house has taken a good sized gouge out of the council footpath outside our driveway with its towing loop (all to do with slopes and ground clearance)

Anyway the hole is about 8" long by 4" wide by 2" deep running across the footpath.

Any suggestions either for a repair or should I be getting someone in (Devon) to do it or should I be calling the council (it is after all their path)

PS the footpath versus road slopes were done by a council approved contractor at vast expense and are council approved.

I'd quietly get it repaired myself and keep it schtumm!

Council will charge you bigtime for the "repair" so unless you have the truck driver admit liability, you could be in for a big bill - as it will take the council an afternoon's work, four men and three lorries to effect the repair.

Do you get my slant on the situation?

I suspected as much.... guess a bag of patching stuff would be a good investment!

Yes, I reckon a bag of Instarmac or whatever it is called from B&Q etc is the best bet.....make sure you get the surface dirty afterwards to disguise it........

I had a fully laden forty tonne Marshalls wagon with trailer completely destroy the pavemant outside my house, I ask the driver what the score was and he just said tell the council he did it and that they have insurance to cover it.
I shifted all the block pavers he had delivered then called the council to report the footpath, they sent someone round and he asked me how it had happened so I told him, the pavement was repaired within a couple of weeks and I have never heard anything more about it, and that was about two years ago !

I'm suprised! But a typical footpath construction isn't designed for artics to drive/park on!
