Is it worth paying out the difference for a terram geotextile to use in drainage or is the best quality weed suppressor fabric sufficient?

Have to say yes because it's a lot of work to dig it all back out again if it doesn't work. How much of a cost difference are you talking about.

There's a huge difference between geo-fabrics and weed barriers. The latter are required only to withstand the might of a dandelion root, whereas the former need to meet set standards for puncture resistance many times greater than that of even the best weed barrier.

Horses for courses - to use a weed barrier when a geo-fabric or filter membrane is required is a false economy, as pointed out by Pablo.

having got a price for terram 3000 to wrap around some soakaway crates, as defined by the manufacture and the price of a good quality non-woven geo-textile such as TDP115, i did decided to go for the latter. what I am trying to say is, could you not just shop around for a suitable non-woven geo-textile rather than a weed membrane?
