as its lashing down we are faffing about in doors right now and tomorrow i have to get about 20 m of vinyl tiles up that are stuck to the screed, when i say stuck i mean like s**t to a blanket
Isn't there a tile-lifter yoke? A little bolster-width blade fixed to a vibrating chassis that you push between tile and substrate, lifting the stubborn vinyl tiles as you go. I remember seeing one being used to remove hermetically-bonded lino from yorkstone flags salvaged from a row of terraced houses in Bolton years ago.
cheers fellas
tried a spade already andy, but they are well stuck,
i can demo hammer them ,but i'm trying not to wreck the screed
will look for an iron in the morning
cheers LLL
I usually used a long blade scrapper with a broom handle for extra shunt. You can buy them real cheap at most builders merchants. Any stubborn ones left I just use my 3inch bolster Need to get some glue cleaner to get rid of heavy glue deposits for a flat finish;)

the other half swears by nitromors - that varnish stripper stuff. He scratches the surface of the vinyl with a stanley blade and then leaves the stuff on overnight to soften the adhesive. They come up lovely so I'm told!
If they are the Marley type council housing tiles then a blunt chisel and hammer works a treat - we had those in our kitchen!
