We had one customer who paid us by cheque and then canceled it and stated the sleeper wall was leaning we had constructed...it was not leaning its the rustic look...anyway after comparing the before and after pictures to prove it was the same she still refused to pay over a weeks labour...anyway we went for small claims and she came back with a ridicules detachment of earnings saying she owed £3,000 to the gas and this to the electric....and she lives in a huge house and a brand new car...they both had..the judge ruled her photo`s were not sufficient evidence and ruled a inspection of the garden by a surveyer, she was rubbing her hands and he claimed he could see nothing wrong and it looked fine she finally paid up at £1.00 a week lol

Thats why we have a contract !

We actually have a section on our website called GARDEN GONE WRONG ! it you fancy a chuckle have a read.
we was not laughing at the time !

did somework for a chain of news agents in Havant and even though I recieved judgment in the courts the bailiffs returned sayhing they couldnt get any money because the banks wouldnt release funds as their account was in joint names and not under the individual person who authorised the works! Whats the point? Another venue, The Wedgewood rooms in portsmouth still owe me £1500.00 for installing a hot water supply to their kitchens. They went into administration and maybe I will get some money someday...Only thing is they still hold music festivals and bands perform there every week so they are earning their money. They stung the electricians who wired the whole place as well. Total con merchants imho:angry:

I did prepare a written contract for my 'contractor'.
He tore it up, had nothing in writing.
Trading Standards were disinterested because I had 'invited' him, rather than he cold calling on my door.

Tony has this 'contractor's' name and address, and has put it on his black list.
PM me if anybody wants it.
