Sand or no sand? - Blinding mot or leave as is?

Setts and cobbles, tarmac, asphalt, resin systems, concrete whether it's plain, patterned or stencilled, gravels, etc.

I'm laying a gravel driveway. I've just laid some DTP type 1 (MOT) (on top of existing sub-base) and it's compacted nicely. Although fairly smooth and hardened currently, do I need to blind with sand (I intend to use sharp sand) before laying the 3cm or so of gravel, or will the sand disturb the clays in the type 1 and make it easier for the whole thing to be disturbed? Do I need anything between the type 1 and gravel at all?

nb. Gravel I intend to lay is 15-20mm buff limestone chippings.
