D p c?

Cant remember if i asked this before. but every time i see it it bugs me. my grandsons other granparents bungalow has a D P C. then a few course below that it has another one. Its the only one round there like it. its about 3 or 4 course to first damp, then the usual 150 to the second one. ???

one dpc under the floor joists then one at finished floor level
quite common on 1930's stuff round here
just an old way to try and stop the joists rotting sean

Thanks for that. although these houses are about ten years old, just seemed odd his house is the only one in the area like it. Mystery solved.

??? 10 year old?
maybe the first dpc was a balls up then and when they reset the datums they had to put another one in to be safe.
i have put 2 dpcs in before when there are concerns over possible future ground levels etc
after all dpc is cheap and easy to install

I would of thought the one under the joists / block and beam be on the inside only as a 9 inch surely would hold the water?

its normally slate sean and normally the full 9"
