I've just bought 100m2 of 100 x 100 x 20 mm tumbled marble tiles which I hope to lay in fan pattern.

Earlier post looks like I should lay these wet onto a poured concrete base. If possible I'd like to go the flexible route, as it would drain better and wouldn't crack.

Current plan is to try dry laying and compacting in a trial area.

All suggestions welcome - thanks!

At only 20mm deep, there's no chance at all of these being laid on a flexible laying course, and in a fan pattern, they would be lucky to last more than a week.

Think about it: how is the unbound jointing going to stay in place in a joints so shallow, and in the case of the fan pattern, so wide?

Thanks for the advice - I've laid them on a solid bed using floor tile adhesive and grout and they look great. Decided against the fan pattern in the end as it would leave too many wide joints. Only thing now is keeping them well sealed to keep the frost out.
Tony - brilliant site!
