its been around in many forms since i was a kid, this is just a new take,it all to do with our maths being to a base of 10
another old one is thus
3 old ladies buy a tele for£10 each ,the guy in the shop feels sorry and says i will do you a bit of discount, heres £5 back!
not being able to split a fiver equally they take a £1 each and give the guy £2
so they paid £10 each - £1 back = £9 times 3 = £27 + £2 to the guy = £29
who has the missing pound?
heh

Or the all time favourite, people are so impressed if they haven't seen it before
- Think of a number between 2 and 9
- Multiply this number by 9
- Take the 2 digits of your new number, and add them together
- Subtract 5 from this new number
- You have a new number
- Now, think of the corresponding letter of the alphabet 1=A, 2=B, 3 = C etc
- Think of a country beginning with that letter
- Take the second letter of the country
- Think of an animal beginning with that letter
- Think of the colour of that animal.
And, if their maths is good and grasp of geography/zoology is half decent, they're thinking of a grey elephant in Denmark.
Beautiful.
