Regulars will probably be sick to death of hearing me harp on about safe stacking of flags and safe storage of materials in general. I know it's something I emphasise on the courses I teach, but now it seems the HSE are beginning to use their powers to prosecute those contractors that don't take it seriously....

fair comment and quite correct,but i have seen many of these cases of young kids getting on to sites and hurting themselves.

surely the parents should shoulder some blame as well??
round here all the kids that are bunking off etc etc are the ones whose dad is in the bookies every day and the pub every night.its almost as if kids are incidental to what their incapacity benefit can
buy them (met a pure layabout the other day from school-24 years ago) anyway he tells me hes on the sick cos his backs gone.
thing is he has never done 1 days work in his whole life,apart from mailbags in the big house

in defence of the parents, hard working, or layabouts. when the kids are out and about there is no way of knowing what they are up to. once the kids have an accident, get nicked or slapped around the ear then we can act on it. as Ive said before " we used to walk on sites at 10 years old looking for pop bottles". now sites are fenced off but kids are still inquisitive and like to explore. so its up to us to ensure good housekeeping on site. brought up 3 kids myself that's why what bit of hair ive got left has turned grey. "pal of my cradle days" that song sums it up a?

i dunno about worthing sean ,but round here there is always a picture of a concerned mother with her hoodie son looking for a payout in our local rag
the fact that he scaled a 10 foot fence to break into the site seems a side issue
i used to go on sites all the time as a kid,but its the compensation culture and the people who dont, and have no intention of working that gets my goat.
i.e. my mum lives in a council house,the council agreed to fit new kitchens and bathrooms for everyone
great!
one of the neighbours said he was a vegan, and billed the council for 14 vegan meals for him and his whole family while the work was carried out.

is he a vegan?

has he ever worked ?

I agree there are ones who want it all handed to them. But thankfully they are a minority ..

It always highlights a case when a kid is injured, but bad storage and housekeeping is just as likely to injure those working on site as a passing hoodie.
