Anybody else remortgaged? I'm free of any ties with my current lender.

If you have done so, what sort of costs are involved? Was it fairly straight-forward?

Toying with the idea of calling ym current lender and seeing what they can do, might be a cleaner way of doing things?

Solicitors, deposit etc etc?

I reckon I'm paying £80-£100/mth too much.....

TIA for any replies/help

alright dave, ive just remortgaged with the coventry bs on a self cert mortgage and its costing £35. i had to remortgage because i was spliting with my ex which meant there were other fees involved, which wont be apllicable to you, but if you use there solicitors its free apart from the £35 quid which they all charge anyway. hope this helps.

btw the hsbc who ive been with for years and never defaulted on wouldnt touch it with a shitty stick.

I remortgage every two years and have done 10 or more now. You usually have lender's fees (anywhere between nothing and £lots) and a conveyancing charge from a solicitor. Both charges can be added to the mortgage meaning that you pay nothing out at the time. Your best bet is an IFA. Takes all the hassle and legwork out of it. Try to get one recommended by someone you know and trust.

I've used most of the main lenders and a few of the smaller ones. Nothing to separate any of them. For me it comes down to the IFA - I've used the same bloke for the last 5 or 6 and he has always found a good deal for us.

Not always easy getting a good price when you're self-employed in the trade but a pro should deliver.
