Hello everyone,
my first post this, I've read the book by Mr McCormack and have found it to be most useful, however one question does arise. Once I've dug down to the correct depth do I need to run the vibration plate over the sub-grade level before laying the sub-base upon it?
Thanks folks
Compact sub grade?

In theory, you will have removed all the loose material from the sub-grade, so there's nowt to compact...in theory.
In practice, if there's a bit of loose material lying on the surface, then running the plate over it won't do any harm, but it's still better to remove the loose stuff.
