I have browsed the various sections on screed compaction and need one final bit of clarification. Vibrating Plate for sub-base? - yes. Vibrating plate on top of paving blocks to settle blocks into screed? - yes. But how much compaction of screed before you put on the blocks? Is it a case of simply tamping the screed with a 'thick piece of wood' as it is levelled or is the vibrating plate used again here? [Seem to think the plate would sink into the screed.]
