Other groundworks tasks, such as roads and footpaths, terracing, fencing, foundations, walls and brickwork, tools and plant.

Under that ugly mess in the image is a dual chamber septic tank. I want to cover it with something that can be driven over safely but still have access for servicing.
I am guessing at a reinforced concrete slab with 2 manholes.

Each chamber measures just over 6ft x 3ft, with 9" concrete walls all around, arranged as the diagram attached.

The intention is then to cover everything with chippings to lose sight of it. I reckon I can afford at least 4" thick without it being exposed but dont really know where to take it from there.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Got to be a pre-cast concrete slab over the top - not sure if there is anything available off the shelf in that size!

Doing it on the cheap? What about a steel roadplate over the top? Thinking about it, the corrosion could be a problem in the future - don;t want to loose a car down there!

We nearly did lose a car. A friend drove over the steel sheet and left a big rusty hole!

You might have to combine 2/3/4 large IC concrete 'biscuits' to effect a cover for these tanks - unless anybody knows anything better?

What is an 'IC concrete biscuit'?
Are they individual slabs like the ones in the picture.

That's brilliant! Just what I need I reckon.

Any ideas where I can get them, delivered to Devon?

I would of at least have a local fence around that secured tightly and something heavy to hold the ply down, kids love hidden dangers. if you are worried about the height , maybe you could take a course of blocks off and bring it up to level with a "biscuit" and brickwork? if you need to cast a thicker slab, maybe some corrugated metal sheeting, mesh over that. then boxed out recess for the frame and cover?

Any heavyside builders merchant would have them, Burdens at Exeter would be your best bet.
