I am a complete noobie to drainage and this forum so please forgive any errors.

I am relaying my soakaway but there is a sewage pipe (believed to be clayware) running parrallel to the rear of the house about 8 foot away from the wall. Obviously the pipework for the soakaway needs to cross the existing sewer pipe. What are the regs for this. i.e. how deep below the existing pipe to I need to go and how do I support it?

its always good to have a good gap. but on a lot of jobs its hard to achieve it. on some pipelines i have had to place fibre board between to reduce the pressure, that was 50ml gap. go for 200ml and support / surround with shingle as normal.

100mm is the usual "guidance" but, as ever, site conditions dictate what is and what isn't possible.
