I used to live near Thamesmead where a lot of LA housing was pre-cast concrete. It had its problems!
Nonetheless, I like Thamesmead (glad I don't have to live there) and when passing I often do a detour to admire the concrete hellhole that is Thamesmead.
I like Westminster tube, the Parliamentary buildings above it, the Barbican and the National Theatre in London.
But what other concrete montrosities should a concrete fan check out in the UK?
The recommendations don't have to be monstrosities either; I think Westminster underground is amazing architectural design and should be awarded...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_McCloud
I've just realised that that Kevin McCloud is not an architect... yet he is made out to be on Grand Designs!
He should be careful... the Architect's Registration Board could fine him if he purports to be an architect and isn't.

I don't think he's ever said that he's an architect, just he likes good architecture and good design (in his opinion).
Without checking up on him, isn't he actually a designer of some kind? I seem to recall that he did something with lighting.
Mind you, I love using the programme to play the Grand designs drinking game:
1 swig for any mention of lunacy (or similar - craziness, stupidity, etc), bravery (or similar - courage, etc), doggedness (or similar - stubborness, tenacity, etc), sympathy with the building/architecture/surroundings (or similar) and then a finish of the drink when at the end of the programme he declares " At the start, I thought they were mad, but now at the end, it was all worth it..."
I loved the octagonal house with the oak tree staircase ...

i would have to gaffer tape her gob up though, cant stick that patronising tone
she loves giving it about her property business etc. etc. blah blah, but it always helps when daddy is a millionaire (not 100% on this but i am sure i read that her auld fella was minted)
anyway no disrespect to her, she's done her thing
but pity the merchant bankers and accountants that start bashing load bearing walls out of their houses on her crackpot advice
cheers LLL
