I have just got a really good guy in to take out tons of excess muck and paid loads to have it carted away. When I first planned my block driveway I decided to have falls in a certain direction. Therefore I got the guy to drag the levels of the foundation level to suit. Looking again I reckon it would be better to create falls in the opposite direction, more suited to the exisiting gulleys. The question I need answering IS - does it matter if the foundation level in places slopes slightly in the wrong direction for my modified plan given that I have sufficient depth for the sub base to accomodate the changes in levels. In a nut shell does it matter if the foundation level slopes one way and the sub base in the other direction? Does this effect drainage or is drainage mainly based on the finished fall of the paving blocks.

Cheers in advance

I should have mentioned that I am talking about a few inches either way as the site is fairly flat.

Agreed - finished fall is what counts, always.
