Brush finished concrete - Do you do it?

Setts and cobbles, tarmac, asphalt, resin systems, concrete whether it's plain, patterned or stencilled, gravels, etc.

I walked past a house the other day with a concrete drive which I was well impressed with.

It was a brush finished drive in plain grey concrete but likeone you see in America with nice even spaced out control joints etc etc and a nice professional texture to it...

I have never seen a drive like this before in the UK and have always wanted to do one...

Do you do broom finished drives often or are they not a common request?

I find people always want PIC unfortunately.

Most concrete drives in the UK don't compete with the Americans IMHO.

i always do brush finishes on footpaths ,but the concrete in this country tends to be poor
either too much fat or not enough
i normally go for 10 mm aggregate for paths ,better finish

We call that a "Brush and Steel" finish - brush marks created by drawing a medium-bristle brush over the surface of the partially cured concrete and the smooth edges created by polishing them with an arris trowel just after the brush marks have been formed.

done lots of it ted. around the new control tower at heathrow there is a brushed conc path i did. we used PQ as is specified at airports. just use aguide bar when brushig to keep lines straight and try not to form a deep lip when arris edging.
