Firstly - thanks for the great site. Certainly full of useful information. Now for my problem..
I have an IC in my garden and want to raise the ground level of the garden by about 18 inches or 450mm.
The concrete cover slab can be lifted off the existing IC and so I think all I need is to get a riser section to put on top of the existing chamber wall.
The IC is made from the circular precast concrete pipe which is 30 inch internal diameter and 2-2.5 inch thick.
Looking at various builders merchants websites I can't find anywhere that sells pipe sections like this.
I don't really want to go down the route of getting a reducer slab, a riser section and a new cover.
Can you suggest any merchants or civils likely to sell the type of section I need?

Ahhhhhh dammit!!!!!Pkeetley wrote:Thanks for the reply Dave - When I took a look I noticed this is actually a company on the west coast US/Canada. I assume this will be very expensive.
Any others you can think of?

Try http://www.hughesconcrete.co.uk/ they deliver nationally but the transport costs will be 4x the cost of the ring, they may however know a local BM you can contact.
Keyline builders merchants stock this kind of thing but as they are part of T.P it wont be cheap
You can also look at the suppliers at http://www.britishprecast.org/ and take a look at the suppliers page on the main web site

I gave Burdens and Keyline and they do not sell 750mm circular concrete sections. The smallest both sell is 900mm sections.
They were very helpful in trying to find alternatives but could not suggest anything.
Any other thoughts on a cost effective way to handle raising the level?
Thanks for your help.

Hi Everyone
Thanks for all your help. I spoke to a few more suppliers and they all say the same thing - It's not a standard sold now (and some said it never was?? believing it to be a cut off section of 750mmm OG pipe - not that that means that much to me)
I'm going to go down the brickwork route - fashioning a cement base around the pipe and use some concrete lengths mortared together as a base for the brickwork where the brickwork will go over the pipe. I think that should do it.
There's more work involved than I originally thought I would need for the job but It's going to be worth it.
Thanks again
Paul

750mm dia certainly used to be a standard size - I recall using a number of them on a rising main contract back in the early 90s. From memory, 750mm dia was the smallest of the circular sections, and although it wasn't common, often being replaced with a 600x900 or 750x900 rectangular section, they were used for shallow access chambers.
